HOLA 2017!

This blog post is about the things I've done, learned and went through this 2016. Yes, it's an absolute cliche, but 2016 is my best year so far so why not blog about it? I know 2016 is not a so so good year to most of us. Especially because of all the things happening not just in the Philippines but around the world. But personally, it's a year of growth and realization for me so I still consider it a good year. Let me share to you guys some of my thoughts and realizations this crazy year has brought me.

  • If people will stay, they will. I didn't know that you will reach a point in your life when letting go is so easy. I've met people this year who just passed by and I didn't feel anything about them leaving. Maybe because I have accepted the fact that you'll meet temporary people in your 20's and that's normal. Don't be cynical about broken relationships, either it's a friendship or a romantic one. You are in the stage where you are both young and old. Let yourself grow and explore.
  • Kapag may tiyaga, may nilaga. This is an old but gold saying. This year I learned that everything can be achieved through hard work. 2016 was a very busy year for me but I don't feel tired at all. In fact I feel happy and fulfilled. I can say that I found where I belong and I love what I do.
  • We don't live for ourselves, we live for others. My friend Nat told me this one time and it marked on me somehow. Kids and old people have a place in my heart ever since but this year I learned that help shouldn't be limited, it should be for everyone who needs it. Life isn't always easy but I am trying to have a kinder heart.
  • Contentment over success. This year taught me how to be contented about life and about myself and I must say that the feeling of contentment is overwhelming. Being contented is not like you'll stop growing or you'll stay there forever, being contented is about being happy with what you have and with where you are as of now. I learned that you can't have it all at the same time. Enjoy the process.
  • If everything goes wrong, look up. Believe me, I am not the religious type of person but I must say, don't underestimate the power of prayer.
  • No matter what, always come home. I've tried different things this year and realized that art will always be my home. This is me, this is what I love to do, this is the thing that keeps my blood running; writing and creating.
  • Family and friends keep you afloat. Life could be a big ocean that will drown you whole but your family and true friends will keep you steady. This year I appreciate more my family especially my parents. I saw how lucky I am to have a very supportive parents and I wouldn't trade it for anything else in this world.
  • No man is an island. I have issues when it comes to depending to others. I am used to do things on my own, like what I always say to myself "you got this". Don't get me wrong, being independent is a good thing but as you grow older you realize more the value of people around you. It is okay to seek some help or advice. Most of the time, friends are friends because they know the right words.
To be honest I learned a lot this year and I cannot explain each of them. 2016 was great in all aspects of my life except lovelife but I can manage to wait haha! This 2017 I am expecting more personal growth, more courage to achieve my dreams, self discipline when it comes to finances and health, a more understanding and peaceful mind and to just take it all easy. Welcome 2017!
