FLICK FRIDAY VOL 2: 90'S FILMS TO WATCH

There is something fascinating about old films. Seeing the look of the places before, the clothes people wear, how they survive life without smart phones and internet. I am a certified fan of old movies so I decided to make this blog post. Here are some of my favorites 90's films:

1. Before Sunrise (1995)

My friend Anne told me about this movie and I am very happy I gave it a shot. If you liked “That thing called tadhana” then you will also love this movie.
It is about two people who met on a train and happens to enjoy each others company. They decided to roam Vienna until sunrise, nothing much happens. Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Celine (Julie Delpy) just walk around Vienna the whole night, they talk about life and love. This Before Trilogy became my favorite films. I really like the character Celine: beautiful, smart and strong. Some people find this film boring, but if you will just listen to the conversation, I assure you, you’ll learn a thing or two. 4/5

2. Reality Bites (1994)

This is a great movie about mid-life crisis. Starring Ethan Hawke (I like him, obviously) and Winona Ryder, with supporting roles by Janeane Garofalo and Steve Zahn. It’s a story of four friends who recently graduated in college, individually searching for their own path. All characters have faced issues about their life and career, specially the role of Winona.
Well, this film will show you to chill down. Life isn’t just about having a car or a successful career. We should first learn the simple things. 3/5

3. 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

Who wouldn’t love Heath Ledger? His smile is the hottest smile I have ever seen. Anyway, I searched on Pinterest what are the good films in 90′s and I saw this one. I downloaded it and watched.
It is a teen comedy-drama film. I like the character of Julie Stiles. An intelligent high school student who doesn’t like dating. Her younger sister Bianca (played by Larisa Oleynik) wanted to start dating but their father’s rule was, Bianca can start dating if Kat (played by Julie Stiles) will. So Cameron (played by Joseph gordon-Levitt) who likes Bianca, created a plan. He made Patrick (played by Heath Ledger) to date Kat. At first Patrick’s has no any interest in Kat but then he saw how intelligent and beautiful Kat is. It’s a funny and light movie. 3/5

4. Clueless (1995)

Cherilyn “Cher” Horowitz (played by Alicia Silverstone) is a gorgeous high school girl who is so popular and rich. They say that this movie is like “Mean Girls” but I think it doesn’t. Cher, despite of fame and wealth has a good heart. In the film, she struggles how to be a better person. She strives to help people around her and do other productive things rather than going to malls.
Cher’ had a good character development in this movie and that is what I like the most. I must admit that this is my current favorite chick-flick movie! Oh, and Alicia Silverstone is so pretty. 3.5/5

5. Notting Hill

William “Will” Thacker (played by Hugh Grant) owns a travel bookshop in Notting Hill. One day his bookshop had an unexpected visitor, Anna Scott (played by Julia Roberts). Anna is a famous hollywood actress. The two had a connection with each other. They fell for each other afterwards but then Anna was too blind to see it. Both faced complicated circumstances.
It is a romantic-comedy film. I personally dislike the character of Julia Roberts at first but then she had a good character development. 2.5/5
